Installing Plugins

The two install paths, the safety checks that run first, how the connector protects the site during an install, and how to install on several sites at once.

Once a site is connected you can install any catalog plugin on it from the Zeebrar dashboard or from inside WordPress. Both paths run the same checks and the same protected install.

Before you start

  1. The GPLC Connector is installed and activated on the site (Getting Started)
  2. The site shows as Connected on the Sites page of your account
  3. You have enough credits for the plugin's tier (Understanding Credits)

Path 1: from the Zeebrar dashboard

  1. Open Plugins in your account and search the catalog
  2. Open the plugin and click Install to Site
  3. Choose the site; the credit cost is shown before you confirm
  4. Watch the result in the activity feed on your account dashboard

Use this path when you manage several sites: you never have to log in to each WordPress admin.

Path 2: from the WordPress admin

  1. Open GPLC Connector > Browse Plugins
  2. Search or filter, then click Install on the plugin
  3. Activate it from Plugins > Installed Plugins

Use this path when you are already working inside the site.

What happens during an install

  1. Compatibility check. The plugin's required WordPress, PHP and WooCommerce versions are compared with the site's versions. A hard mismatch blocks the install; a soft one shows a warning.
  2. Scan check. The plugin's VirusTotal result is checked. A flagged package is blocked and nothing is charged.
  3. Credits. The tier price is deducted.
  4. Protected install. The connector backs up the existing plugin folder (if the plugin was already present), installs the new files, and runs a health check on the site. If the site stops responding, the backup is restored automatically and the credits are refunded.
  5. Record. The install appears in the activity feed on your account dashboard and the plugin in the site's inventory.

A failed download, a package that turns out to be a bundle, or a restore all refund the credits automatically.

Installing on several sites at once

On the Pro and Agency plans, the Sites page has a Bulk plugin updates card:

  1. Click Check all sites for updates; every connected site is polled
  2. Tick the plugins and sites you want; the total credit cost updates as you select
  3. Confirm

Zeebrar runs the operation in the background, three installs at a time and spread across sites so no single site is hammered, and keeps going until every item has succeeded or failed with a reason. Long runs continue even if you close the page.

Plugins you installed by hand

If a catalog plugin was uploaded to the site before you connected it, the connector cannot update it until it knows which catalog product it is. Open GPLC Connector > Installed, find the Not receiving updates yet section and click Add to updates. Nothing is downloaded and no credits are spent.

Verifying an install

  • In WordPress, Plugins > Installed Plugins lists the plugin as Active
  • In your account, the site's detail page lists it in the plugin inventory with its version
  • The plugin's own settings menu appears in the WordPress admin

If an install fails

The error shown in the dashboard or in WordPress tells you which step failed. Each one is covered in Common Plugin Installation Errors. Credits for a failed install are refunded automatically; you do not need to ask.
